Swing Your Razor Wide ...

Swing Your Razor Wide...

Work hath begun on the beast that is Sweeney Todd, two weeks in and all ready the Barry White and Batman impressions are rolling in. Sweeney Todd is definatley the most difficult show I've worked on so far...it's a tad mental.

I've been very lucky to get to play Mrs Lovett in our production of Sweeney at college and I had no real idea of how hard this part would be to play. I come from a musical background but not so much as to be blessed with a voice that can sing the entirety of Lovett's  range.

When Steven Sondheim wrote the music for Sweeney, did he fully understand the challenge he had created for us performers ? - me thinks not...

But on the bright side I have an amazing cast to work with and I feel privileged to be able to perform with every single one of them and couldn't ask for any better. I can't wait till full rehearsals kick in, it's gonna be stressful  but I know we can do it ( I faith in all of you )

Mrs Lovett will be hard but bring it on, nothing like a good challenge and Sweeney is most certainly a prime example...

One Line At A Time

One Line At A Time...

As a drama student I often find myself fascinated with not only what happens on stage but what takes place behind the scenes. The process of putting a show together is never truly easy but it's a journey non the less.

I've decided to create this blog to document what happens during the rehearsal process of shows and projects I am involved with, not only will it be a way for me to look back at things I've done and accomplished but also give others the opportunity to see the work that goes into  creating a performance from start to finish.

So ladies and gentleman here begins our venture...
